We’re in Manhattan Bride Magazine

We’ve been published!  We’re honored that one of our weddings (Melissa & Jim’s wedding at Neptune’s at Snug Harbor) is in the Fall/Winter issue of Manhattan Bride.  Many thanks to the happy couple for being such photogenic subjects!

Melissa & Jim got married at Celebrate at Snug Harbor.  We love Snug Harbor and think it’s a hidden gem on Staten Island.   Actually, I should say that we love Celebrate at Snug Harbor and they love us.  We’re actually their recommended photographers.  To see more of our photos and to learn more about Celebrate at Snug Harbor, click on the following link:

Celebrate at Snug Harbor – Our New Catering Hall Partner

We photographed Melissa & Jim’s wedding at Celebrate at Snug Harbor, a new catering hall in Staten Island.  We’ve been to Snug Harbor before, but had heard from Melissa & Jim that the facility had a new owner.  We were excited to meet the new team and see how they had renovated the place.  And, we were not disappointed.  It was our sincere pleasure to work with them.  We like them and they like us, so we’ve decided to partner up.

As they say, a picture is worth 1,000 words.  Below is our favorite photo from Melissa & Jim’s wedding.  It’s actually of their last dance and wonderfully captures Melissa & Jim’s last celebratory kiss.  As you can see, Celebrate at Snug Harbor has fantastic ceilings - they add a great artistic touch to the hall and make it a beautiful place to host a celebration.

Snug Harbor actually houses the Staten Island Botanical Garden, so has great places to take photos.  Melissa & Jim look like they’re in the middle of a jungle, don’t they?

There are lots of great paths with trees and flowers like the one below.

Celebrate at Snug Harbor has one of the most beautiful bridal suites we’ve ever seen.  Not that you’d want to spend your entire wedding in the bridal suite, but when we got married, we actually spent most of the cocktail hour in our bridal suite.  Sometimes, you just need to get away from the hubbub, put your feet up and enjoy some quality time alone with your new spouse!  Unfortunately, our bridal suite was not as nice as the one here.  Their bridal suite is a truly lovely sanctuary.

Location Feature – Capitale Weddings

In the past few months, we’ve been doing location features on different spots in the tri-state area that have impressed us (we often get asked for our opinions since we’ve seen so many places!)  We started with Liberty House in New Jersey, wrote about CV Rich Mansion in Westchester and would now like to end the series with Capitale in New York City.

Capitale is an old bank that’s been converted to a party space.  The building’s architecture is magnificent.  It was built in the late 1800’s by a prominent NY architect.  Look at the utterly breathtaking photo below!  It depicts beautifully the majesty of Capitale.  Capturing the 3 flower girls dancing in the middle is a nice bonus.  We love the contrast of their smallness against the wide expanse of Capitale.  And, of course, while everyone else is sitting still enjoying dinner, the flower girls have to get the dance floor going.  Really like the contrast of their motion against the still backdrop of the black tie affair.  As you can see, we love this photo for many reasons!

Capitale has a great stairway to provide a grand entrance into the reception.  The picture below is of Christine & David walking down to the cheers of their guests.

And, Capitale provides ample space for you to celebrate and have fun with your friends and family.   Christine & David ended the night dancing arm in arm with their guests.  Unlike some venues, the dance floor is large enough to accommodate a lot of people.

Below is a page from Christine & David’s album.  Do you see anyone that you recognize?  Specifically, look at the top row, second picture from the right.  James is in the photo!  They asked for this photo to be in the album and we are truly honored to be part of the memories that Christine & David will treasure forever.

In all, we have been extremely impressed with the unparalleled beauty of Capitale.  If we (i.e., Alice & James) were to get married again and we wanted to do it in NYC, we undoubtedly would choose Capitale!

Location Feature – CV Rich Mansion Weddings

As promised, we’d like to share another reception location that has impressed us.  Joyce and Bill got married at the CV Rich Mansion in White Plains last October and we thought the place was lovely !  The mansion also happens to be the home of the Woman’s Club of White Plains.  We had never heard of these clubs and were very impressed when we photographed our first wedding in one in 2005.  Since then, we’ve been to a few others in Westchester and they’ve all been similarly beautiful.  The CV Rich Mansion has been the most memorable for us.  The mansion, the grounds and the food are all fantastic.  James and I (i.e., Alice) love trying different cuisines and we’re always excited to see what our couples pick.  We were very pleasantly suprised when for Joyce & Bill’s cocktail hour, the CV Rich Mansion served up delicious Southern homestyle dishes.  We thought that was a great idea.  Innovative and flavorful !

As you can see from these 2 photos, the grounds of the mansion are stunning.  Lots of great places to take photos and since the mansion only hosts one wedding at a time, you don’t have to share !  The grounds’ natural beauty makes the perfect backdrop for romance.

We’ll be doing one more location feature, somewhere in NYC.  We’ve seen many cute restaurants, lofts and catering halls in the 5 boroughs of NYC and would like to share one with you in our last location feature.

Location Feature – Liberty House Restaurant Weddings

We’re often asked for our opinions on different wedding venues (given that we’ve seen so many places).  In the next few weeks, we’ll share with you a few different locations that have impressed us.  Let’s start with the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City, NJ.  And no, they haven’t paid us to say nice things about them !  Liberty House has excellent food and very friendly staff.  Its most prominent asset, however, is its amazing views of the Manhattan skyline !!

Check out the magnificent NYC backdrop in these photos.

The Liberty House itself is beautiful as well.  The photo below is of newly-married Kayla & Zachary walking to the Liberty House for their reception.

And,  here are a few photos of the reception fun inside (from Susan & Scott’s wedding 2 days later !)  The Liberty House happened to be very popular for our brides and grooms last year.

We like the restaurant so much that we’re planning on having dinner there one night (not as part of a wedding, but just to have a nice dinner while gazing out at the spectacular views).  Great food and great views – what more can one ask for?

Stay tuned…other location features to come.
