After hearing so much about the wonders of Costa Rica, we decided to go on vacation there. We had a great time and have to say that the country definitely lives up to the buzz.
This is our favorite place in Costa Rica, the Arenal Volcano. The volcano is active and on a clear night, you can see lava shooting up from the top. Â

From the volcano, we drove to the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The forest is great and has thousand-year-old trees with roots hanging everywhere. And, of course, you’ll see lots of birds and other animals in Monteverde. This hummingbird is a beautiful example.

There are lots of monkeys in Costa Rica. This monkey is actually walking beside the pool of our hotel. The hotel sets out bananas every day at 4PM for them and the monkeys quickly picked up on the routine. You can see them coming out of the jungle at about that time. They scoot on the electric lines like tightrope walkers and then, swing their way over to our pool.

Manuel Antonio National Park has lovely beaches, doesn’t it?

And, the sunsets are simply breathtaking.  James is a bit taller than Alice, so he has to stoop down for kisses sometimes.

Costa Rica is famous for its adventure activities. You can go whitewater rafting, waterfall rappelling, and the most famous sport of all, zip lining through the forest. Click the play button below to watch James zip through the trees!

In all, we had a great time in Costa Rica. The country was beautiful and the people are unbelievably friendly. We’ve never met so many happy people before. Many thanks to our wonderful Tico friends (Costa Ricans are called “Ticos”) for a great vacation.
